I have a 40 inch Samsung LCD with similar specs as the LG 42LD450. I did a side by side comparison and the picture quality to me was better on the LG when the Picture Mode was set to "vivid". The sound on the LG is far more superior when playing high definition video. The feature I like most is the settings for the Aspect Ratio. On channels that are not high definition, the picture is usually stretched out making people look fat and the landscape obscure. I set the Aspect Ratio to "set by program" which will automatically give you the best viewing Aspect.
