I just purchased this TV 3 days ago. I was considering getting a set with 1080 P, but I went with this brand new 720P plasma TV. The picutre is awesome, and the sound is pretty good as well. (All 42 inch TV's come with 2 10 watt speakers; you can always hook up to a stereo). For whatever reason, when I plug my set into an upconvert player, the screen resolution is 1920 by 1080.(awesome picture using an HDMI cable) If you are looking for a great picture with decent sound, this is your set. You cannot beat the price. They are so hot that Amazon can't keep them in stock. Oh, did I tell you that the set looks elegant? It does. The only downside I see so far is that the 10 screws you need to attach the base are a little difficult to screw in. The holes shoud be a little bigger. But that really is the only negative I see. So get off the fence and go buy it.
